Description

To reach Chiloé, we will cross the Chacao Channel by ferry from Pargua, which is 60 kilometers from Puerto Montt. We will visit the towns of Ancud, Castro, and Dalcahue, where we can admire the wooden churches—declared a UNESCO World Heritage site—the colorful palafitos, and the beautiful Chilote handicrafts

Overview

• Fort San Antonio, Ancud: A military fort dating back to the Spanish colonial era, offering a privileged view of the Pacific Ocean and the landscapes surrounding Ancud.
• Regional Museum, Ancud: The Ancud Regional Museum explores the area’s history through archaeological and textile exhibits.
• Castro: We will visit the beautiful Church of San Francisco, the iconic palafitos, and the local artisan market.
• Dalcahue: We will visit the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, explore local crafts, and take a tour of this charming town.
• UNESCO World Heritage Churches: The churches of Chiloé were designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for their distinctive wooden religious architecture that combines European and indigenous elements.
